What is LEX?
LEX is an automatic link exchange system offered by invitation only to high quality education Web sites. LEX simplifies the link exchange process by providing a profitable, easy and quick way to exchange text links and improve search engine ranking.

How will joining LEX increase my Web site's search engine ranking?
By giving you, right from the start, links the search engines consider MOST IMPORTANT in determining importance, popularity and rank.
The major search engines use incoming links - also known as inbound links and back links - to determine where a Web site falls in search engine results for a given keyword.
Sceptical? Wander over to Google and search the phrase "Miserable Failure". You'll likely find The White House page titled "Biography of President George W. Bush" ranked # 1, with the official Web page of anti-Bush film director Michael Moore close behind.

It works like this: search engines see every link to your site as a VOTE for the importance of your Web site. These votes carry the most weight when:
* They come from a site relevant to your site (dealing with a similar theme.)
* They come from a site MORE IMPORTANT than your site, in the eyes of the search engine.
But search engines do not "count" the votes of reciprocal links. They recognise a link from your site directly to another site linking right back to you as an even exchange, and nothing more.
LEX gives you a quick and automatic way to exchange hundreds of links - the links the search engines value most.

How does it work?
You display links out to other LEX members on your Web pages, and, in turn, other members display links out to your site from their pages. LEX automatically exchanges links between members, so that you link OUT to different sites than those linking IN to you. The search engines see your LEX links as a sign of your importance, and popularity and rank you higher in search results. It's that simple.
When you join LEX, you will install a small piece of code on your site, which will allow us to install your links. Then you'll specify the 4 sets of keywords each that you want to use with your links. And that's it!

Can I select the keywords for my links?
Yes! When you join LEX, you will give us four 2-keyword phrases. We'll use those 4 sets of keywords with your LEX links.

Can I put the links within some text?
Yes. Search engines use to give a little more importance to links within text, so you'll be able to do it if you want. For example, instead of just setting up the link:

How many links will I get?
Considering we work under a 3 x 2 rate, and we put 5 links per page, the total number of pages you'll get is:
# Total of pages whithin your site x 5 x 2 / 3.
For example, if your site has 100 pages, you get 100 x 5 x 2/ 3 = 333 links.

What web sites are elegible to participate in LEX?
Any Web sites related to education owned by well established companies or people with reputable activities in Internet are welcome to sign up. We select only sites with transparent promotion methods, that avoid spam and have reputable linking policies.

If I have more than one site, which one can I enroll?
You can enroll any sites you want, there's no limit of sites, once all of them have the requirements to participate. You DON'T need to use your main Web site if you don't want to.

What does my webmaster need to know?
We will send you a code by email, which your Webmaster will paste into the HTML source of your Web pages. This code will be written in the programming language you currently use on your Web site (ASP or PHP). For example, if your site uses ASP technology, we will send you the LEX code in ASP.

Is the code safe?
Yes. It's a very simple code and it is just a way for our system to "read" the content of your site, determine its theme and the best links to be placed whithin your pages and then place the links. It CAN'T extract files from your server, get your confidential information or any other actions that may violate your privacy.

What are the technical requirements for my site?
Your site has to be hosted in a dynamic server allowing ASP or PHP scripts. ASP (Active Server Pages) and PHP (Hypertext Processor) are "server-side" programming languages. It means that your server executes applications in ASP or PHP and returns a static HTML page to users. They are different to JavaScript (for example), which runs in users' browsers.
If you only have a static site (in HTML) but you want to enroll, you can move to a dynamic server without changing your pages.

Can you assure top positions for my site in search engines results? How many links do I need to get it?
No, we can't assure specific top positions because Search Engine Marketing is not an exact science. Nobody can assure you a specific ranking. It depends on over 200 different factors from which Link Popularity is only one of the most important. But we can assure that your Link Popularity and overal rankings will be improved, and it means a higher traffic from search engines. The number of links you need to get on top depends on an number of things, including the competition for your product. See the difference on the number of results:

In the first case, you would need a much higher number of links to get on top 10.
There are a lot of companies assuring top 10 positions in search engines, but as Google states in their guidelines, nobody can assure you a position.
